When I Come In For An Eye Lift, What Should I Expect?

Published on March 12, 2020

Congratulations, you decided to opt for an eye lift or blepharoplasty to eliminate your droopy eyelids. As you already know, this cosmetic procedure involves the removal of excess fat, muscle, and skin around your eyelids.

Not only do droopy eyelids make you look several years older, but it can also affect your vision. With an eye lift, you can correct these problems, making you look several years younger.

What To Expect During An Eye Lift?

Before The Eyelift

First, the doctor will discuss the outcome you desire and address any queries you have on this procedure. The medical professional will capture an image of your eyes, as this picture will be helpful during the eye lift.

If you are consuming any medications, make sure you inform the doctor. The medical professional will ask you to stop smoking at least two weeks before the procedure.

During The Eyelift

On the day of the eye lift, the doctor will inject a numbing agent into your eyelids. Only in specific cases does the medical professional use general anesthesia. The doctor will make an incision along the fold of your upper eyelid to remove excess fat, muscle, and skin.

He/she will repeat the same procedure with your lower eyelids. After completing the eye lift, the doctor will close the incisions.

After The Eyelift

As this is an outpatient procedure, the surgeon will allow you to go home post the eye lift. The doctor will give you a series of instructions that you need to follow to ensure you get the best results.
