Breast Implant Removal
Whether you want a breast implant removal or breast implant revision, we can help you obtain the look and feel you want. Our surgeons are experienced in these procedures, which can sometimes be more difficult than your initial breast augmentation surgery.
Breast implant removal or corrective breast surgery is done because of dissatisfaction with the results of a breast augmentation or due to complications. Issues with a breast augmentation can be caused by trauma, infection, pregnancy and other reasons.
There are many reasons for breast corrective surgery. Some common reasons include:
- Capsular contracture or hardening of the breast tissue around an implant
- Implant rupture, deflation or leakage
- Switch from silicone to saline implants, or saline to silicone implants
- Shifting of implant location
- Size, shape or feel of the breasts are not as expected
- Infection or disease
- Changes due to a large weight loss or pregnancy
We want you to be informed before making your choices. Our caring team will take the time to listen to your needs and fully explain everything. We will develop a personal plan customized for your needs. You can feel confident in our excellent care.
We want you to be happy with your breast corrective surgery. To achieve this, we will discuss:
- Initial augmentation surgery
- Reason for revision and surgical options
- Scar placement
Initial augmentation surgery
If you had your initial augmentation surgery done by a different surgeon, you should bring your medical records with to your consultation. This will give your surgeon a complete background regarding your type of implants, implant location and type of incision. This will help him/her to form the best recommendation for you.
Reason for revision and surgical options
We want to make sure that what you want matches with the predicted outcome of your surgery. Your surgeon will discuss the reason for your removal or revision. He/she will review all options and make recommendations based on your individual situation.
Scar placement
Breast revision surgery can often be done through existing scars. Your surgeon will determine if the same scars can be used for the revision surgery, and if not, where the scars will be the least noticeable.
Each breast implant removal or revision surgery is based on an individual’s body and goals. We would be happy to schedule a consultation to answer any questions you may have and provide our recommendation on what we think is best for your situation. You will be well taken care of at HealthPartners Plastic Surgery. We are confident you will be pleased with the results.
