Skin Rejuvenation

Your care is in expert hands. We want to help you feel good about your skin and its appearance. Every person is different and there are a variety of options that can be recommended to meet your needs. Our team will help you determine the best treatment for you.

Microdermabrasion painlessly exfoliates skin while stimulating circulation and collagen production. It is a mild, but highly effective procedure.

Microdermabrasion is most commonly used for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven pigmentation, coloring and age spots
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Acne
  • Scars
  • Sun damaged skin

You can expect:

  • For your skin to be more sensitive to irritation. You may be sensitive to products that you’ve used before.
  • To avoid direct sun exposure. You will need to use a sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or more throughout your treatment.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove the top layers of damaged skin using a chemical solution. The new cells below form tighter, younger looking skin. There is a wide range of chemical peels available. A free consultation is the best way to determine which peel is recommended to get the results you are looking for.

Chemical peels are most commonly used for:

  • Wrinkled skin
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Blemished skin
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Melasma, a tan discoloration of a woman’s face

You can expect:

  • Your skin to feel warm, tight and “pulled” for several days. Your skin may or may not peel or flake.
  • Some redness for 2-3 days
  • To avoid sun exposure for 21 days following your procedure to avoid skin discoloration. You will need to use a SPF of 30 or higher during and after the peeling process.

The Sciton MicroLaserPeel beam is scanned over the area to remove a thin layer of damaged skin. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. This improves the skin texture and gives a more youthful, vibrant appearance. The MicroLaserPeel offers more than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels.

MicroLaserPeel is most commonly used for:

  • Most skin areas, with the face and neck the most common, followed by the chest and hands
  • Mild wrinkles
  • Smile lines
  • Scars
  • Freckles
  • Keratosis, a small, rough growth
  • Sun damage
  • Pigment irregularities

You can expect:

  • The procedure to usually take 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of area being treated
  • Minimal discomfort, with a topical numbing cream used for deeper treatment
  • Obvious improvement in approximately 1 week
  • Your skin to have a frosty appearance until the skin peels away within a few days
  • Some skin redness, a sunburn type feeling and mild swelling
  • To keep the skin moist to aid healing
  • To return to work within 3 to 4 days
  • Skin sensitivity to ultra-violet light, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed
  • The number of treatments to vary based on your goals, but excellent results can be obtained with one treatment

ProFractional Laser

A tiny laser beam from the Sciton ProFractional laser treats thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. This invigorates the body’s natural healing process, which stimulates the production of new collagen, plumps the skin and smooths out irregularities. It will improve the overall appearance of your skin. The procedure is customized for your specific skin conditions and goals.

ProFractional Laser is most commonly used for:

  • Most skin areas, with the face and neck the most common, followed by the chest and hands
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Post-traumatic scars
  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Freckles
  • Aging and sun-damaged skin
  • Melasma, a tan discoloration of a woman’s face

You can expect:

  • Quick healing
  • Treatment to usually take 15 to 30 minutes
  • Mild redness, a sunburn like feeling and some swelling
  • To keep the skin moist to aid healing
  • Returning to work 1 to 2 days after treatment
  • Skin sensitivity to ultra-violet light, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed
  • Collagen remodeling to continue to occur 4 to 6 months following treatment
  • Excellent results from just one treatment, but the number of treatments may vary based on your goals

Photo Rejuvenation / Broadband Light Treatment

Photo Rejuvenation, also known as Broadband Light Treatment, uses pulsed light to gently heat the upper layers of skin. The heat absorbed will stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen. Your natural skin color will be more blended, smoother and appear vibrant and younger looking. Photo rejuvenation will also eliminate many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin’s condition and desired results.

Photo Rejuvenation is most commonly used for:

  • Most skin areas, usually the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders
  • Fine wrinkles
  • Age and sun spots
  • Small facial veins or broken capillaries
  • Rosacea
  • Hemangioma, a red birthmark of extra blood vessels
  • Smoothing roughly textured skin

You can expect:

  • The treatment to take 5 to 30 minutes depending on the size of area and type of procedure
  • Minimal or no discomfort, but will depend on the depth of the treatment
  • Mild redness and a sunburn like feeling for 2-3 days
  • Darkening of pigmented lesions that will scab and fall off in 2-3 days
  • Skin sensitivity to ultra-violet light, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed
  • To return to most activities immediately
  • Depending on your skin, 2 to 5 treatments at 4 to 8 week intervals

SkinTyte treatment is a comfortable, effective and affordable way to turn back the clock on lax and sagging skin. SkinTyte will firm, tighten and lift your skin to give you a more youthful appearance. This non-invasive treatment is based on the scientific principal of selective thermolysis and utilizes Sciton’s BBL pulsed light technology to deeply heat your skin while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. The Skin Tyte procedure is recommended for patients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo surgery. Full results often take up to four months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened.

SkinTyte is most commonly used for:

  • Improve skin texture and smoothness
  • Plump the skin
  • Reduce and soften fine lines and wrinkles around the lips, mouth and eyes
  • Increase jawline definition, improve jowls
  • Create a more youthful looking face, neck and upper chest
  • Improve skin laxity on the abdomen, thighs, arms, knees and buttocks
  • Reduce the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks
  • Rejuvenate by stimulating increased collagen production in the upper, middle, and deep dermis of your skin

You can expect:

You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after and this should return to normal within minutes. Since the Skin Tyte procedure is non-invasive there is no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. You can also apply sunscreen and makeup after each session.

A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 3 weeks apart is typical of most patients. We will work with you to personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire. Dr. Detlefsen may also combine Skin Tyte with other popular aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.

No special skincare regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use an appropriate sunscreen with a minimum of an SPF 30. We will also recommend an at home skincare regimen to compliment you treatment
